Dr. Hudson's professional path began with advanced study at the University of Kansas and a commission in the Navy Medical Service Corps. It later expanded through osteopathic medical education, Family Medicine, flight surgery, worldwide deployments, and long-term Reserve service.
Career in Sequence
Education & Commission
Dr. Hudson earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Shortly after graduation, he was commissioned in the Navy Medical Service Corps and served six years on active duty as a Medical Plans and Logistics Officer.
Medical Training
He received a four-year Navy Health Professions Scholarship to attend the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1989. He was then assigned to the Naval Hospital at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, for internship training in Family Medicine.
After completing his active-duty obligation, Dr. Hudson resumed postgraduate training in Family Medicine at AdventHealth East Orlando from 1994 to 1996.
Naval Aviation Medicine
Driven by a passion for aviation, Dr. Hudson completed Navy Flight Surgeon training at Naval Air Station Pensacola. He was subsequently assigned to Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, California.
He participated in numerous deployments around the world and logged more than 600 flight hours in the F/A-18D Hornet and other military aircraft.
Reserve Service & Retirement
Dr. Hudson remained in the Navy Reserve and was recalled to active duty on numerous occasions. He retired as a Captain in the Navy Medical Corps in 2010 after 31 years of military service, the majority of which was spent in support of the United States Marine Corps.
