What is a nexus letter?
A nexus letter is a medical opinion that explains whether—and why—a diagnosed condition is connected to military service or another service-connected condition.
At VNI, the record review and medical analysis are steps toward that one service: an independent, physician-authored opinion when the evidence supports it.
A medical opinion can support a claim. It cannot guarantee the outcome, and not every claim requires a privately purchased letter.

Who writes my medical opinion?
A VNI physician is responsible for the independent medical opinion. Intake advocates coordinate your documents and communication; they do not make the medical determination. Ask your advocate who will be reviewing your case.
What does the $395 review cover?
The preliminary physician review assesses the available records, medical viability, complexity, and appropriate scope. It is a separate paid review—not a promise that a nexus letter will be written. The full $395 is credited toward the total opinion fee if you proceed.
When do I authorize the full nexus letter?
After the preliminary review, VNI explains whether an opinion is appropriate, the proposed scope, total fee, and remaining balance. You separately authorize that work before it begins. You do not authorize a full opinion just by requesting a free consultation.
Can you guarantee a rating increase or approval?
No. VA determines eligibility, ratings, and claim outcomes. A physician’s military experience is a point of connection and context—not a guarantee of special evidentiary weight. VNI provides independent medical opinions, not VA claim representation.
