Background and education

From Venezuela to a Career in American Medicine

I was born and raised in Venezuela before immigrating to the United States in the 1990s in pursuit of the opportunities and values that would shape both my life and medical career.

I completed my undergraduate education at Yeshiva University in New York before earning my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.

Clinical training and practice

Comprehensive Care Across the Lifespan

Following medical school, I completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency through Staten Island University Hospital, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and Kings County Hospital in New York. This comprehensive Med-Peds training established a strong foundation for caring for patients of all ages across a broad range of medical conditions.

After residency, my family and I made Florida our home. I have since cared for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout the state, including Mount Sinai Medical Center, Baptist Hospital of Miami in Kendall, North Shore Medical Center, and Pediatric Associates, among other respected healthcare organizations.

Working across hospital and ambulatory environments has given me a deep appreciation for the full continuum of care and the importance of treating each patient as an individual.

United States Army service

Leadership and Medical Service in the United States Army

In 2008, I proudly joined the United States Army and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. My military career included a deployment to Afghanistan and multiple mobilizations, with service both at home and overseas.

Caring for service members reinforced my commitment to compassionate, evidence-based medicine and gave me firsthand insight into the physical and psychological challenges that many veterans experience after military service.

Whether caring for veterans clinically or assisting them through comprehensive, evidence-based medical evaluations, I consider it a privilege to serve those who have served our nation.

It is a privilege to care for veterans and to provide the thoughtful, evidence-based medical evaluations their service deserves.
